BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The SouthSide Arts District (SSAD) is introducing its most recent community enhancement project, the ARTstop.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
The installation is located at 3 E. Fourth Street, occupying one of the SouthSide Arts District’s busiest pedestrian intersections. \u00a0<\/p>\n
According to a press release by SSAD, the project is an interactive installation designed to encourage visitors to explore Bethlehem’s arts and cultural attractions.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Created by Easton-based artist Danny Finnochio, the installation was crafted at a decommissioned LANTA bus stop to celebrate the neighborhood’s creative identity while also connecting visitors with its creative sector.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The ARTstop depicts a map of the local area, accentuating key landmarks and most notable attractions.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
Plans are in the works to expand the project and install a bulletin board on the reverse side to share upcoming festivals, events, and promotions from businesses and organizations in the area.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The ARTstop project was made possible through a Main Street grant from the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce Foundation, according to the Arts Districts news release. \u00a0<\/p>\n
“Thousands of people come here every year to enjoy our food, music, and festivals, but the Arts are part of everyday life for our SouthSide residents,” said Katy Knibbs, Assistant Manager of the SouthSide Arts District. “ARTstop gives us a new way to spotlight our creatives and encourage folks to explore our arts scene.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
The project’s official ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held on Thursday, July 30, at 11:30 a.m. followed by a casual luncheon reception at the newly opened Uno Taqueria, located at 15 E. Fourth Street, Bethlehem, PA 18015.
