ALLENTOWN, Pa. — The Allentown Planning Commission granted preliminary\/final land development plan approval for a mixed-use building Tuesday afternoon at city hall.<\/p>\n
The proposal, known as 2 Allen Street – West Allen, calls for a seven-story, 200-unit apartment building with 18,000 square feet of retail at 1-17 W. Liberty St. and 2-16 W. Allen St.<\/p>\n
The plans offer 50 studio units, 107 one-bedroom apartments and 43 two-bedroom units.<\/p>\n
Developers altered color changes and aesthetic components from previous versions provided to the planning commission. Public parking and access to the facility’s retail component were also added. Some of the site’s parking will be open to the public under Tuesday afternoon’s proposal. Specifically, the proposal has 240 spaces with about 40 serving as public spots.<\/p>\n
Goodbye Ruby Tuesday<\/p>\n
Planners reviewed a sketch plan for a two-story medical office building at the site of a former restaurant.<\/p>\n
The proposal, offered by Jaindl Land Co., involves the former Ruby Tuesday at 3995 Tilghman St.<\/p>\n
Tuesday afternoon discussions included sidewalks and curbing, buffering and bicycle racks. Officials said they have secured a tenant. The former restaurant will be razed.<\/p>\n
As a sketch plan, no formal action was taken or required.<\/p>\n
Data Center Ordinance<\/p>\n
The planning commission approved changes to the city’s new data center ordinance.<\/p>\n
The amendments would increase regulations governing various aspects. This includes removals of special exception in a district, increasing setback from 200 feet to 500 feet, additional public notice and meeting requirements, ambient noise levels, and restoring sites to previous condition once vacating the site.<\/p>\n
