<\/p>\nErie police are searching for suspects after a man was shot multiple times in a westside neighborhood and gunfire also hit a house and struck a dog inside on the late evening of July 14.<\/p>\n
Police said no suspects were in custody the morning of July 15 in the shooting, which was reported July 14 at 11:13 p.m. in the 2900 block of Poplar Street.<\/p>\n
The 58-year-old man who was shot, whose name was not released, was riding a motorized bicycle when he was shot multiple times, including in the torso, arm and leg, Erie Police Chief Rick Lorah said. Gunshots also struck a house on the block, and gunfire entered the house hit a dog inside, according to Deputy Chief Ken Kensill.<\/p>\n
The man was taken to UPMC Hamot, where he was listed in critical condition and was undergoing surgery, Lorah said. Information on the condition of the dog was not immediately available July 15.<\/p>\n

Erie police remained in the 2900 block of Poplar Street July 15 as they searched for evidence and other information in a July 14 shooting that seriously injured a man on the block.<\/p>\n
Lorah said officers who responded to the area after the shooting was reported recovered a large number of rifle casings.<\/p>\n
Police believe the shooting suspect jumped into a vehicle after shooting the victim and fled the area, Lorah said. Detectives have spoken to witnesses and are reviewing a large amount of surveillance video, he said.<\/p>\n

The shooting is the latest in a series of shootings and other violent crime that has occurred in Erie since the Fourth of July holiday weekend. Two men were shot in the hand<\/a> in separate incidents July 3 and July 4, another man was seriously injured and taken to a Pittsburgh hospital following a stabbing July 4, and a 61-year-old man, Frederick Torrence, was fatally shot <\/a>in the 1100 block of East 11th Street July 7.<\/p>\n Erie police have charged a 15-year-old boy as an adult in the July 3 shooting.
