We have an update on Tuesday’s structure fire in Cranesville.<\/p>\n
None of the home’s five occupants were injured, but two pets are unaccounted for.<\/p>\n
Fire departments from Erie and Crawford counties were sent to East Crane Street at 4:30 Tuesday afternoon.<\/p>\n
According to the chief in charge of the scene, the fire started on the front porch and the house was engulfed when he got there.<\/p>\n
The intensity of the fire wasn’t the only challenge; crews had to use multiple tankers and fill sites to get water on the blaze because the hydrant was out of order.<\/p>\n
Tuesday night’s heat was also a major problem, with extra departments called to provide relief.<\/p>\n
“It’s rough conditions today. You’ve got full gear on, you’ve got a pack on and you’re inside fighting a house fire that’s fully involved,” said Cranesville Volunteer Fire Department Chief Tim Crane. “Two and a half hours and we finally got it under control. It’s an old farm house, planks and stuff like that. Fire could hide everywhere.”\u00a0<\/p>\n
The chief said a few firefighters went down from the heat, but none of them went to the hospital.<\/p>\n
The other units on scene included a rehab trailer from the Kuhl Hose Company with drinks and other supplies to help firefighters cool down.<\/p>\n
The fire also damaged the siding on two neighboring homes.<\/p>\n
The cause is under investigation.<\/p>\n
