Reading Hospital\u2019s 5th Avenue Pharmacy at 420 S. Fifth Ave., West Reading, has become the first pharmacy in the region to operate 24-hours a day, seven days a week.<\/p>\n
The pharmacy on Tuesday began giving residents around-the-clock access to medications, pharmacist support,\u00a0curbside pickup and essential health products whenever they are needed.<\/p>\n
The pharmacy is open to everyone, not just Reading Hospital patients. It offers prescription medications, over-the-counter products, and basic first aid supplies.<\/p>\n
According to officials from Tower Health, the extended pharmacy hours are intended to help patients start treatment sooner, reduce delays in care, and provide a convenient option when other pharmacies are closed, ensuring that patients can begin treatment immediately rather than waiting until the next business day for a pharmacy to open.<\/p>\n
\u201cAccess to medications should never depend on the time of day,\u201d Michael L. Stern, president and CEO of Tower Health, said in a statement announcing the expanded hours. \u201cBy opening the region\u2019s only 24\/7 pharmacy, we are making it easier for patients and families to get the medications and supplies they need without unnecessary delays. This service reflects our commitment to improving access to care and supporting the health of our community.\u201d<\/p>\n
In addition to prescription medications, the pharmacy offers a wide range of over-the-counter products, including pain relievers, cold and allergy medications, children\u2019s medicines, cough and flu remedies, digestive health products, vitamins and supplements, thermometers, home health items, wound care supplies and other first aid essentials.<\/p>\n
