With August quickly approaching, The Frick Pittsburgh Museum and Gardens in Point Breeze has announced its lineup of programming and activities for next month. With classics such as Summer Fridays at The Frick and newer events like a soundbathing and stargazing concert, the lineup has something for everyone. For all events, attendees are encouraged to purchase their tickets in advance online<\/a> or at the Visitors Center. All visitors to the Frick also must stop by the Visitors Center to receive a free site admission wristband.<\/p>\n

Lunch Pail Lecture: The Influence of Parisian Caf\u00e9s on Art, Culture & Literature: Aug. 6 at 12 p.m.<\/p>\n

Lunch Pail Lectures are The Frick\u2019s new monthly lecture series where attendees are welcome to bring in their own brown bag lunches or order from The Caf\u00e9 at the Frick. Speaking of caf\u00e9s, this month the lecture will discuss how Parisian caf\u00e9s influenced art, culture and literature. Christine Fr\u00e9chard, owner of Christine Fr\u00e9chard Gallery in Garfield, will be headlining the event. The lecture will begin at 12 p.m. in The Community Room. Tickets <\/a>are $10 for members, $15 for non-members and $5 for college students with ID.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Symphony of Nature Concert: Soundbathing and Stargazing: Aug. 12 at 8:30 p.m.<\/p>\n

Experience the August new moon with an immersive sonic journey featuring guest performer Brooke Smokelin \u2014 a Pittsburgh-based sound bath healer. The 75-minute program will be followed by a brief Q&A with the artist. The event will take place on The Great Lawn and will begin at 8:30 p.m. Tickets<\/a> are $35 for members, $45 for non-members and $25 for college students with ID.<\/p>\n

Youth Art Workshop: The Chemistry of Color: Aug. 16 and Aug. 20 at 9 a.m.<\/p>\n

This workshop will combine art, science history and egg yolks. The Aug. 16 event is designed for students entering grades 2-4, and the Aug. 20 event is for students entering grades 7-9. All participants will learn about color and history, create tempera paint and leave with a painting. The event will take place at the Education Center and will begin at 9 a.m. Tickets <\/a>are $40 for members and $45 for non-members.<\/p>\n

Guided Evening Tours of French Moderns:\u00a0Aug. 20 at 6 p.m.<\/p>\n

Get exclusive after-hours access to a guided tour that will take you through the French Moderns exhibition, with extra time to explore the galleries on your own afterwards. The tour will begin at 6 p.m. and tickets<\/a> will cost $30 for members, $40 for non-members and $20 for college students with ID.<\/p>\n

Intro to Plein Air: Seeing as an Artist with Ron Donoughe: Aug. 22 at 9 a.m.<\/p>\n

Learn the basics of Plein Air painting, or the art of painting outdoors, with the workshop led by Pittsburgh artists Ron Donoughe. Students will spend the morning around the gardens and the grounds to collect inspiration for their painting. Attendees are responsible for bringing their own materials. The event will take place on The Great Lawn and will begin at 9 a.m. Tickets<\/a> are $65 for members, $80 for non-members and $45 for college students with ID.<\/p>\n

Summer Fridays at the Frick: Aug. 28 at 5 p.m.<\/p>\n

Closing out Summer Fridays will be Pittsburgh-based band Donora. Food trucks, artmaking and family fun will begin at 5 p.m., with live music performances beginning at 6:30 p.m. Tickets<\/a> are free to youth (17 and under) and $5 for both member and nonmember adults.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Time-Traveling Caterpillar Scavenger Hunt: Now \u2013 Oct. 11, Tuesday-Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.<\/p>\n

Travel through history and art with Gustave the Caterpillar. Explore the Frick with a free scavenger hunt in honor of the current exhibition, French Moderns: Matisse\/ Renoir\/ Degas. Grab a scavenger hunt sheet at the Grable Visitor Center; once visitors have found all of Gustave\u2019s hiding places, they can return their completed sheet to a staff member at the front desk in the Visitor Center to claim their prize. The event is free and open to all.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Summer Explorer Series: Now \u2013 Aug. 29, Every Tuesday & Saturday, 10 a.m. \u2013 1 p.m.<\/p>\n

Every Tuesday and Saturday throughout the summer, The Frick will host free drop-in activities to engage visitors. These activities include artmaking, historical exploration, storytelling and play.
