{"id":244159,"date":"2026-07-15T18:08:08","date_gmt":"2026-07-15T18:08:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/244159\/"},"modified":"2026-07-15T18:08:08","modified_gmt":"2026-07-15T18:08:08","slug":"large-scrap-fire-burning-in-darby-township","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/244159\/","title":{"rendered":"Large scrap fire burning in Darby Township"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A large scrap fire is burning on Industrial Drive in Darby Township.<\/p>\n<p>The call came in shortly after 10 a.m. and numerous fire stations have responded to the blaze at<a href=\"https:\/\/us.emrlocal.com\/WhatWeBuy\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> EMR recycling,<\/a> which was described as metal in the yard on fire, in the unit block of Industrial Drive off Calcon Hook and Hook roads.<\/p>\n<p>A column of black smoke was visible for miles.<\/p>\n<p>Darby Township has posted an alert on social media that residents should avoid the area and keep windows and doors shut.<\/p>\n<p>Radio traffic indicated the fire was about 100 feet by 150 feet with hazardous materials teams dispatched to the incident.<\/p>\n<p>The company website indicates they purchase an assortment of scrap metal, including electrical goods, domestic appliances, catalytic converters and vehicles.<\/p>\n<p>With the high heat, rehab and numerous health units were brought to the scene.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"A large scrap fire is burning on Industrial Drive in Darby Township.
