Erie police expect to conclude an internal investigation into the arrest of 41-year-old Keven Sparks by the end of the week, according to a statmeent released Wednesday by Mayor Daria Devlin’s administration.<\/p>\n

A baby’s cries led a neighbor to the discovery of an hours-old infant in some bushes in an east Erie neighborhood.<\/p>\n

City police detectives are now investigating how the newborn baby came to be left there, who the parents are, and if they are OK.<\/p>\n

Erie police were called at about midnight July 15 to the 100 block of East 29th Street after a neighbor reported hearing crying and finding the baby boy in some bushes outside, Deputy Chief Ken Kensill said. The boy was naked and was believed to be two to four hours old when he was found, Kensill said.<\/p>\n

The baby was taken to the hospital and appears to be doing all right, he said.<\/p>\n

Erie Bureau of Police major crimes detectives are investigating the incident and are working to identify the baby’s parents and to check on their well-being, Police Chief Rick Lorah said. Detectives are canvassing the neighborhood for information and video, Lorah said.<\/p>\n
