{"id":244505,"date":"2026-07-16T03:30:08","date_gmt":"2026-07-16T03:30:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/244505\/"},"modified":"2026-07-16T03:30:08","modified_gmt":"2026-07-16T03:30:08","slug":"pittsburgh-mexican-restaurant-under-consumer-alert","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/244505\/","title":{"rendered":"Pittsburgh Mexican restaurant under Consumer Alert"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A restaurant in Pittsburgh is working to have a Consumer Alert removed after an inspection on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>The Allegheny County Health Department says Las Velas in Market Square is still under alert on Wednesday after issues with a malfunctioning refrigeration and a damaged ventilation system.<\/p>\n<p>During a reinspection Wednesday, raw steak and tamales were found between 43 and 44 degrees.<\/p>\n<p>Inspectors says that the ambient air temperature of the cooler was down to 43-44 degrees after it was higher the day before and technicians were actively working to repair the cooler.<\/p>\n<p>The kitchen had a \u201csmoky\u201d cook line with and fire suppression system tagged from 2024.<\/p>\n<p>Inspectors say an ANSUL technician arrived during the inspection.<\/p>\n<p>While the last two violations were considered \u201clow-risk\u201d, the Consumer Alert remains in place until the servicing of the ventilation hood, ANSUL system and walk-in cooler are completed.<\/p>\n<p>Get the latest updates <a href=\"https:\/\/www.alleghenycounty.us\/Services\/Health-Department\/Food-Safety\/Alerts-Closures-and-Enforcements\/Consumer-Alerts-and-Closures\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">HERE<\/a>. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"A restaurant in Pittsburgh is working to have a Consumer Alert removed after an inspection on Tuesday.
