Most summer family traditions include outdoor activities like swimming, going to amusement parks, supporting local vendor fairs and visiting outside attractions.<\/p>\n
One such local attraction, Lakeland Orchard & Cidery in Scott Twp., has been expanding since its grand opening in 2013.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe try to add something unique every year. This year we have a lot of exciting things happening at the orchard,\u201d Julianne Roba said.<\/p>\n
If you recognize the name, it\u2019s no surprise because Lakeland Orchard & Cidery is owned by the Roba family, who has had the popular pumpkin farm in North Abington Twp. since the 1980s.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are family-owned and operated. We still farm the land, and the family takes care of both the pumpkin patch area and the orchard,\u201d Julianne Roba said.<\/p>\n
\u201cOne of the new additions we are excited about is Grammy\u2019s Bakery & Sweets. They have delicious homemade doughnuts and other sweet treats. We usually like to have a dessert that coordinates with our theme of season. We will have blueberry season coming up shortly, so I am looking forward to blueberry pie, or blueberry streusel,\u201d Julianne Roba added.<\/p>\n
This July, Lakeland Orchard & Cidery is holding its Blues, Brews, & BBQ event.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe love summertime at the orchard, and we wanted that summertime feel with blueberry season in full swing, bluegrass music, brews because of our cidery and of course, summertime barbecue food,\u201d Julianne Roba said. \u201cWe have some really unique barbecue bites like pork barbecue pizza, barbecue chicken, etc., and don\u2019t forget the blueberry treat,\u201d Julianne Roba said.<\/p>\n

The Blues, Brews, & BBQ will take place Thursday through Sundays in July, with the final date being July 26.<\/p>\n
The orchard also has some new beverages this year, including caffeinated drinks, mocktails and dirty sodas.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe try to have something for everyone. Entertainment for the whole family at the orchard is important to us,\u201d Julianne Roba added. \u201cYou can bring your kids somewhere and enjoy rides, entertainment, food and drinks.\u201d<\/p>\n
Season passholders have access to both Lakeland Orchard & Cidery and Roba Family Farms. Season passes can be purchased at the orchard and also online. Online purchasers receive a 15% discount. Day passes can also be purchased.<\/p>\n
\u201cOne of the unique things about the farm is the wagon rides, so visitors can see the hands-on farming and planting,\u201d Julianne Roba said.<\/p>\n
Guests can also expect to pick blueberries. Their pass comes with a container so they can pick out their take-home blueberries.<\/p>\n
\u201cGuests can also ride the rides, go on the train ride, and play in the cornbox \u2014 think sandbox but filled with hard kernel corn that can hold 50-plus families,\u201d Julianne Roba said.<\/p>\n
Jeff Roba, Lakeland Orchard & Cidery co-owner, is thankful the orchard has become a summer destination in the area.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re grateful to everyone who has come out so far in the summer and are looking forward to providing more experiences for families and friends to get together and make memories at the orchard in the summer months as well,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
