A vehicle crashed through a stone wall of a house along a country road near Morgantown over the weekend after the driver lost control due to a medical emergency, police said.<\/p>\n
The home, which is used for short-term rentals, was unoccupied when the crash happened shortly before 1 p.m. Saturday in the 100 block of Mill Road in Caernarvon Township, Berks County, police said.<\/p>\n
The SUV was partially on its side \u2014 halfway inside the home \u2014 when emergency responders arrived, police said. The driver, a 56-year-old man from West Lawn, got out of his vehicle on his own.<\/p>\n
He didn\u2019t suffer any injuries from the crash, they said.<\/p>\n
Police said the man suffered a medical emergency while driving, causing him to lose control of the vehicle. He was taken by ambulance to Reading Hospital for evaluation.<\/p>\n
The accident caused extensive damage to the house.<\/p>\n
Twin Valley Fire Department arrived to check for occupants and secure utilities. The township building inspector was called to assess the stability of the structure.<\/p>\n
Officials shored up the home, using high-strength struts called air shores to support the patio roof before a towing contractor removed the vehicle.<\/p>\n
The scene was turned over to the property maintenance crew to further secure the dwelling.<\/p>\n
