Several people were injured, police said, when a shuttle — that a police official told NBC10 was carrying nurses — crashed along Columbus Boulevard in South Philly on Friday morning.<\/p>\n
According to Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small, the crash happened near the intersection of Reed Street and South Columbus Boulevard at about 6:30 a.m.<\/p>\n
Contacted Friday morning, Small said the vehicle involved was a shuttle “full of nurses” but, he did not immediately know how many people were on the shuttle at the time of the crash.<\/p>\n
Small said “multiple injuries” were initially reported, but the severity of these injuries was not immediately known. <\/p>\n
The cause of the crash was not immediately provided by police, either.<\/p>\n
But, he said an investigation is ongoing as the situation unfolds. <\/p>\n
As of about 7:30 a.m., police were directing traffic around the area, causing some delays for early morning commuters. <\/p>\n
However, by about 8:30 a.m., the roadway had been reopened after the van was removed from the roadway. <\/p>\n
