People across the state are being advised to stay indoors Friday due to very unhealthy air quality, with a \u201cCode Purple\u201d alert in effect. <\/p>\n
The conditions are especially dangerous for people with respiratory issues.<\/p>\n
This issue is fine particulate matter, which are small enough to get in your lungs and cause inflammation.<\/p>\n
The \u201chazardous\u201d air is also prompting many activities to cancel and businesses to close.<\/p>\n
Kennywood, Sandcastle & Soakzone are all closed because of the poor air quality. <\/p>\n
All City and County pools are closed along with the North and South Park golf courses along with the PNC Carousel in Schenley Plaza. <\/p>\n
And the UPMC Stroke Survivor bike event is canceled. <\/p>\n
Several other community pools are closed to day along with other local events. <\/p>\n
As of Friday morning, the popular Downtown event Picklesburgh is still moving forward as planned.<\/p>\n
UPDATE from Allegheny County:<\/p>\n
Due to unhealthy air quality in our area, all County-owned pools, spray parks, and golf courses will be closed today, July 17. In addition, tonight’s concert at South Park has been cancelled.
