Erie city officials held a press conference to update the public on their investigation into an arrest that has garnered a lot of attention.<\/p>\n
That arrest involved an EPD cruiser veering off the street onto a sidewalk, striking Kevin Sparks on a bicycle, who had warrants out for his arrest.<\/p>\n
Video showing the collision, as well as Sparks apparently being punched while he was being subdued on the ground, caused outcry from some in the community.<\/p>\n
During that press conference, City of Erie Mayor Daria Devlin stated that the investigation regarding this matter has been completed, but information will not be released to the public until a later date.<\/p>\n
The mayor also stated that due to this incident, the city is making it a top priority to review the city police’s code of conduct, as well as create a plain language guide<\/p>\n
