BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The 39th annual Blueberry Festival Kicks off this weekend.<\/p>\n
Tents, signs and blueberries are all coming together as crews prepare for the thousands of people expected to visit Historic Burnside Plantation this weekend.<\/p>\n
“We’re super excited. It’s the 39th annual Blueberry Festival which is our largest community event of the year. It’s our best opportunity to meet you right in the community where everybody works, lives and plays,” says Beth Beatty, the special events manager for the Historic Bethlehem Museums and Sites.<\/p>\n
She spent the day working with staff and volunteers to get everything ready for the big weekend.<\/p>\n
“We are standing right now in the kitchen garden which will be brought to life with our volunteer gardeners. We’ve got vendors, we’ve got kids activities, we’ll have farm animals on Sunday,” she explains.<\/p>\n
And of course, we can’t forget about the blueberries.<\/p>\n
Inside a refrigerated truck is where you’ll find every blueberry-inspired treat being served throughout the festival. Let’s take a look at what’s on the menu.<\/p>\n
“We have beautiful strudels from the bakery nook. We’ve got some blueberries to add on to your dessert choices. In the blueberry tent, we have small coffee cakes. You gotta get to really appreciate the pie. Look at all those crumbs. And the crust is delicious,” Beth says.<\/p>\n
She says the festival will go on rain or shine, but if lightning moves into the area festival activities will be paused until it’s safe to resume.<\/p>\n
And if the weather doesn’t cooperate.<\/p>\n
“We’re going to give you a coupon to come back on Sunday.
