A Carbondale man exposed himself and urinated in a public park on Tuesday evening, according to a criminal complaint.<\/p>\n
Michael Fay, 54, of 126 Belmont St., faces charges of indecent exposure and resisting arrest.<\/p>\n
According to the criminal complaint, officers responded to the Carbondale YMCA park at about 6:30 p.m. for a report that a man was taking off his clothes in public.<\/p>\n
Witnesses Candince Diver and John Regan told police a man in blue jeans, who was sitting at a picnic table, had been drinking and bothering others. They said he then publicly urinated on a garbage can under the pavilion.<\/p>\n
When officers attempted to take him into custody, Fay began screaming at them causing some of the chewing tobacco in his mouth to hit them in the face.<\/p>\n
Officers said Fay, known to be frequently intoxicated, smelled of alcohol.<\/p>\n
When police repeated that he needed to stand up and come with them, he instead began walking away.<\/p>\n
When officers approached him, Fay\u00a0resisted and refused to put his hands behind his back to be handcuffed.<\/p>\n
Even after being arrested, Fay continued to be belligerent, screaming at officers as he was being escorted through the park.<\/p>\n
Fay was arraigned on Wednesday before District Judge Paul Ware.
