ONTELAUNEE TWP., Pa. – A pedestrian is dead after an accident that closed a stretch of Route 222 in Berks County this morning.<\/p>\n
According to Northern Berks Regional Police Department, the crash, which involved a pedestrian and a tractor trailer, happened in the area of 222 and Dries Road just before 5 a.m.<\/p>\n
The Berks County Coroner’s Office was called and pronounced 40-year-old Maria Zavala-Tinoco of Reading dead at the scene.<\/p>\n
Police say it appears the victim was attempting to cross 222 when she was struck in the northbound lane first by a tractor trailer and then by a second vehicle.<\/p>\n
Route 222 northbound was closed at the Park Road exit.<\/p>\n
