It was a record fiscal year for Pennsylvania\u2019s casinos as they raked in more than $7 billion in revenue, according to the state\u2019s Gaming Control Board. That figure came despite slight losses for Wind Creek Bethlehem.<\/p>\n

The casino in the city\u2019s south side reported retail slot machine revenue of $277 million for the 2025-26 fiscal year, a drop of 1.7% from the previous year. Table game revenue was down 3.2% to $239.9 million. Despite the losses, Wind Creek was still the table games leader among the state\u2019s 18 brick-and-mortar casinos and second in slots.<\/p>\n

There may be a reason for concern for Wind Creek, as monthly figures for June saw a 43% drop in table games \u2014 from $22.6 million in June 2025 to $12.9 million. Slots were up about 2% to $22.8 million, though overall the casino saw a 23% drop over the year in revenue to $36 million.<\/p>\n

The Morning Call reached out to Wind Creek management on Friday, but did not receive an immediate response.<\/p>\n

A possible reason for the drop is the opening of New York City\u2019s first casino in April<\/a>. Before the COVID pandemic, at least 50 buses a day would come from Asian-American areas of Queens, Brooklyn and Manhattan\u2019s Chinatown.<\/p>\n

In recent years, several companies continued offering trips from the New York area. Wind Creek is located about 85 miles west of Manhattan\u2019s Times Square.<\/p>\n

To keep ahead of its competition, Wind Creek was upgrading its facilities with the addition of meeting and convention space along with a spa in 2023<\/a>. It also nearly doubled the number of hotel rooms.<\/p>\n

Julia Corwin, director of corporate communications at Wind Creek, told The Morning Call in 2023 that the improvements were made with the potential competition in New York in mind.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen Wind Creek purchased this property (from Las Vegas Sands in 2019), they knew the New York casinos would be coming downstate, so in order to solidify this as its own destination area, it really was necessary,\u201d Corwin said.<\/p>\n

How the numbers stack up<\/p>\n

The PGCB said the $7 billion in fiscal year revenue translated into more than $3 billion in tax revenue that go toward such things as school property tax reduction, local economic development and the state\u2019s general fund.<\/p>\n

Parx Casino in Bucks County had the most revenue for slots at $375.1 million, a slight decrease from last year. Rivers Casino Pittsburgh was just behind Wind Creek in third place at $255.3 million.<\/p>\n

Behind Wind Creek in table games revenue was Parx, which remained even over the year at $196.4 million.<\/p>\n

The leading revenue source was internet gaming, which brought in almost $3 billion. More than a third of that came from Berks County-based Penn Entertainment, which netted $1.1 billion through its Hollywood Casino at Penn National Racecourse. That was a 21% increase from the previous year.<\/p>\n

Wind Creek\u2019s iGaming revenue was down slightly to $17.7 million.<\/p>\n

However, Wind Creek saw a substantial increase in sports wagering revenue at $1.6 million, a 243% jump. Mohegan Sun Lehigh Valley\u2019s sportsbook was down about 7% to $1 million.<\/p>\n
