{"id":248115,"date":"2026-07-21T00:33:19","date_gmt":"2026-07-21T00:33:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/248115\/"},"modified":"2026-07-21T00:33:19","modified_gmt":"2026-07-21T00:33:19","slug":"national-pennsylvania-day-encourages-residents-to-serve","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/248115\/","title":{"rendered":"National Pennsylvania Day encourages residents to serve"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\"><a data-ylk=\"slk:SHARON, Pa.;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;\" data-yga=\"{&quot;yLinkElement&quot;:&quot;link&quot;,&quot;yLinkElementType&quot;:&quot;article_link&quot;}\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wkbn.com\/news\/local-news\/sharon-news\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">SHARON, Pa.<\/a> (WKBN) \u2013 Monday is National Pennsylvania Day.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s an annual observance that encourages residents to serve their neighbors.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">This year, America 250 PA has dedicated the theme to be &#8220;Pennsylvanians Helping Pennsylvanians&#8221; through acts of service.<\/p>\n<p>Volunteers across the state today participated in a variety of projects, but specifically in fighting food insecurity through a partnership with Feeding Pennsylvania.<\/p>\n<p>At Mercer County Food Bank, volunteers sorted goods to be packaged for underserved areas.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">&#8220;I would encourage all states to do it. I think it&#8217;s really nice to have all of these folks who normally wouldn&#8217;t be coming in for a volunteer shift just here specifically for that day,&#8221; said executive director Becky Page. &#8220;I think it&#8217;s an educational tool and a really worthwhile activity.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Over 500 volunteers helped out Monday to help serve 19 counties across Pennsylvania.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Copyright 2026 Nexstar Media, Inc.
