An investigation was underway overnight after, officials said, a boy was struck and killed by a freight train while walking along tracks in the Bustleton section of Northeast Philadelphia late Monday. <\/p>\n
According to police, the incident happened at about 11:30 p.m., when a boy — who police did not immediately provide further identifying information on — was struck and killed by a train while walking about tracks near the intersection of Welsh and Neil roads in Bustleton. <\/p>\n
Contacted about this incident, police said the boy had been reported missing since Sunday, but they did not immediately provide additional information on this case.<\/p>\n
Overnight, the roadway in the area was shut to drivers as police investigated the scene, but the area has since re-opened to traffic. <\/p>\n
Officials did not immediately say what may have led the child to this area or detail how the boy accessed the tracks but an investigation was ongoing.<\/p>\n
