BENSALEM, Pa. (WPVI) — The son of a 70-year-old woman who was found dead in her Bucks County home has pleaded guilty to abuse of corpse and will serve two years of probation.<\/p>\n

Authorities say Derrick Bouffard admitted that he failed to report his mother’s death for more than a week.<\/a><\/p>\n

Police were called to the home on Hunter Court in October after a neighbor reported a foul odor.<\/p>\n

According to police, Derrick Bouffard answered the door and told officers, “I was just about to call you guys. My mom stopped breathing this morning.”<\/p>\n

Police say they found Cynthia Bouffard’s body on a mattress in the family room of the home. Officials say she was emaciated and decomposing, weighing 60 pounds.<\/p>\n

Police said Derrick Bouffard had been ordering food to the home one to three times a day, both before and after his mother’s death, and had to walk past her body to reach the front door.<\/p>\n

The Bucks County District Attorney’s Office believes Cynthia died of medical causes.
