Pittsburgh area braces for severe thunderstorms, flooding & possible tornadoes<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t6:17 is *** severe weather alert day for us today. Strong to severe thunderstorms developing this afternoon as early as 1 o’clock. We will have two waves moving through. We’re looking at damaging winds, isolated tornadoes, and flash flooding being the biggest storm threats for us right now. We do have *** pocket of some heavy rain that was in Westmoreland County continuing to move into Indiana, even *** little bit of lightning, but it We’ll bring some quick heavy downpours into Indiana clipping western portions of Cambria County. But let’s time it all out again. We are expecting to see this line, this well defined line, come in around 1 o’clock into Mercer and Lawrence and Beaver County. By 2 o’clock taking over into Clarion, Butler, Beaver just edging into western portions of Allegheny County. By 2, by between 2 and 3. O’clock into Allegheny, Washington, and Greene and just setting up into Westmoreland between 3 and 4. That’s going to take over into Fayette County as well down into Morgantown after 5 o’clock. This rolls on out. That’s the first wave. Second one, not as intense, but we’re still going to have some pockets of heavy downpours, just *** little bit more scattered in nature that will continue until about 1011 o’clock tonight. And then things will quiet down as we head into Wednesday. So our severe weather outlook, we’re at *** level 3 out of 5 with damaging winds being the highest risk. And then we get into flash flooding, potential hail and some isolated tornadoes cannot be ruled out. We are expecting to see that rain, uh, potentially in some spots over 2 inches, and that’s where we do have *** flood watch in place for Allegheny, Washington, Westmoreland, Greene, Fayette. Down into Montingilion County that will start at 1 o’clock today until 11 o’clock, so not everyone’s going to see the severe storm, but that line moving through does have the potential pretty much throughout the entire afternoon. That flash flood potential will pretty much be possible for everyone, but in the flood watch area is where we could see some of the heaviest of rain, especially along Interstate 70. On south, there’s your 4 day forecast. We’ll get in the low 80s today. Once we get through this front, things quiet down for the middle and end of this week and cool off. It’s not going to be as muggy, and temperatures will be comfortable into the mid to upper 70s. Right now, relatively quiet as the camera points eastward. We are noticing again that rain that’s passing through parts of Indiana County. 66 right now in Pittsburgh, Washington, even Greensburg. Butler, you’re waking up at 64, 63 in Franklin. 63 also into Indiana. Looking at your 4 day plus 4 more forecasts, relatively quiet to finish out the week and into the weekend we’ll be climbing back up into the mid 80s. Pretty seasonal for us. We’ll be watching our next chance for rain and storms trying to develop Sunday late afternoon and evening and into Monday, potentially Tuesday of next week.
