{"id":248628,"date":"2026-07-21T17:22:10","date_gmt":"2026-07-21T17:22:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/248628\/"},"modified":"2026-07-21T17:22:10","modified_gmt":"2026-07-21T17:22:10","slug":"openstreetspgh-returns-to-strip-district-and-lawrenceville","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/248628\/","title":{"rendered":"OpenStreetsPGH returns to Strip District and Lawrenceville"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">PITTSBURGH \u2014 OpenStreetsPgh is holding its final event of 2026 this weekend.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">Three miles of Pittsburgh\u2019s Strip District and Lawrenceville neighborhoods will be transformed into car-free public space for the community to get together on Sunday. <\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">People of all ages and abilities are invited to bike, walk, skate and roll through the neighborhoods without any traffic.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">Event-goers can expect free fitness classes and wellness activities, local vendors food and shopping, activites hosted by community organizations, youth programming and BikePGH\u2019s \u201cSide Quest\u201d for a chance to win a prize while on the route.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">\u201cOpenStreetsPGH is an exciting day out in Pittsburgh and an even more powerful reminder that our streets should serve as spaces for people, not just motor vehicles,\u201d said Catlyn Brooke, Events Manager at BikePGH. \u201cBy opening miles of roadway to the public, we\u2019re showing what\u2019s possible when we prioritize community connections, safety, and accessibility over car traffic. Pittsburghers deserve streets that work for everyone, every day, not just during events like this.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Route and Road Closures<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">Streets will close starting at 8 a.m. on Sunday.
