ALLENTOWN, Pa. – Police in Allentown say two men robbed a woman at gunpoint then tried to run from police.<\/p>\n
Jahniel Perez-Matos, 20, of Nutley, New Jersey, and Alex Aracena Polanco, 20, of Deer Park, New York, face multiple charges, including robbery and evading arrest, the Allentown Police Department said in a news release.<\/p>\n
City police say an officer saw two men wearing face masks and black clothing in the area of Eighth and Maple Streets Tuesday around 3:30 p.m. When the men saw the marked police car, they immediately ran away, according to city police.<\/p>\n
As they were fleeing, witnesses reported that the two men had just robbed a female victim at gunpoint near a bank in the 00 block of North Eighth Street, city police said.<\/p>\n
According to Allentown Police, the men stole a large amount of cash and a cell phone from the victim.<\/p>\n
Patrol officers chased and apprehended the men, according to the news release.<\/p>\n
City police say Perez-Matos and Polanco both had handguns, one of which was found to be stolen.<\/p>\n
