What does the Eagles\u2019 offense look like? Two mainstays of the Eagles\u2019 recent Super Bowl runs are noticeably absent from their 2026 offense. One is very apparent: wide receiver A.J. Brown. From 2022 to 2025, no NFL receiver had a greater share of his team\u2019s receiving yards than Brown (32.6%), and only two (Tyreek Hill and Puka Nacua) had more yards per route run. Brown was particularly valuable to quarterback Jalen Hurts as a safety valve against man coverage. Simply put, to remove him is to remove a keystone of the Eagles\u2019 offense. With Brown goes Jeff Stoutland, the team\u2019s offensive line coach since 2013. He\u2019s a less evident absence, but perhaps a more impactful one. The Eagles\u2019 offensive line was the best in the league during their championship runs, but last season\u2019s group suffered mightily with injury and will have a lot asked of them in new offensive coordinator Sean Mannion\u2019s under-center, play-action, motion-heavy system. This is the sort of modern offense that doesn\u2019t immediately and obviously jell with Hurts\u2019 strengths, as reporting has covered his commitment to more static offensive systems. Regardless of how highly Hurts ranks among league quarterbacks, there\u2019s no question that Brown and the O-line were massive factors to the Eagles\u2019 offensive success under Nick Sirianni. Enormous pressure is on the shoulders of Mannion, who doesn\u2019t have much experience but did coach in Green Bay, where he helped Matt LaFleur wonderfully adjust the Sean McVay scheme for both Aaron Rodgers and Jordan Love. Pressure is also on Hurts and Nick Sirianni to help Mannion blend that offense with a Philadelphia system that has largely worked across multiple seasons and multiple offensive coordinators. Trickle-down pressure lands on players such as wide receiver DeVonta Smith and running back Saquon Barkley, too. There\u2019s a huge mystery right now in Philadelphia.<\/p>\n

I would not be surprised if neither guy is on the 2027 Eagles. I think Andrew Mukuba is one of the most important players on the Eagles\u2019 defense heading into 2026. Not because he\u2019s already one of their best defenders, but because there are still so many possible outcomes and he is expected to be \u2018the guy\u2019 at safety. The Bull Case: The instincts continue to stand out, the understanding of Fangio\u2019s defense takes another leap forward, the tackling becomes more controlled, and the physical questions gradually fade away. If that happens, the Eagles will have found themselves a long-term starting safety with outstanding football intelligence and the kind of range that every modern defense covets. I mean, come on\u2026<\/p>\n
Eagles start season 0-2. After the back-and-forth shootout with the Commanders in which they fall short, the Eagles travel to Tennessee to face the Titans. In terms of survivor pools, many pick the Eagles with such hubris, but are stunned to see that Robert Saleh\u2019s defense does what it did to Hurts in the divisional round this past January. Hurts struggles, throwing a pair of interceptions, including the game-sealing pick to Kevin Winston Jr which locks up a 20-17 win for Tennessee, putting the Eagles in an early 0-2 hole.<\/p>\n
Overrated \u2014 Philadelphia Eagles. The Eagles have ranked among the elite teams of the NFC for the last 10 years, making the playoffs nine times and winning the Super Bowl twice. Even with last season\u2019s regression, they won the NFC East for the third time in four seasons. But now they\u2019re trying to re-tool on the fly, subtracting the disgruntled A.J. Brown and drafting Makai Lemon, rolling with their fourth offensive coordinator in as many years (rookie play caller Sean Mannion), and adding veterans Jonathan Greenard and Riq Woolen on defense while losing standouts Nakobe Dean and Reed Blankenship. The health of the offensive line is a concern, as is a tough late-season stretch. Although viewed as a bar-setter, the Eagles could hit a few snags this season. 13) HC Nick Sirianni: Second-round pick. Man, I really struggled with where to put Sirianni on this list. And again, disclaimer, as noted in the Fangio section above, any trade of a head coach would require the coach\u2019s consent. [\u2026] The pros: Sirianni has a 59-26 record as a head coach. He has never missed the playoffs, and he has been to two Super Bowls, winning one. That\u2019s, uh, pretty damn good. The cons: He is coming off a really bad season in which the team appeared dysfunctional both from a culture and offensive scheme perspective, and he has a personality that won\u2019t be for many owners. I landed on a second-round pick. [BLG Note: Would you be willing to trade Nick Sirianni for less than a second-round pick? Genuinely curious.]<\/p>\n
We know Vic Fangio is a great defensive coordinator. The big question is whether the Eagles have the right players. There is no disputing they are very talented, but you still need the right combination of skill sets and personalities. I think the real key is Jalen Carter. He can be a true difference-maker up front. If he\u2019s healthy and locked in, I think the defense will be great. Carter wasn\u2019t in top form or completely healthy last season and the defense was erratic at times. When he\u2019s right, the D is on a different level. The secondary should be one of the best in the league with Riq Woolen as CB2. Quinyon Mitchell might be the best CB in the league and is critical to how Fangio plans his looks and coverages.<\/p>\n
The Eagles made headlines in April with the acquisition of outside linebacker Jonathan Greenard via a trade with the Minnesota Vikings. The Pro Bowl pass rusher is only one season removed from a 2024 campaign that saw him reach at least 12 sacks for a second year in a row. Greenard battled injuries last year in Minnesota but is expected to participate in team drills come Training Camp next week. \u201cI had surgery back in December, so I\u2019m just working back in,\u201d Greenard said during June\u2019s minicamp. \u201cI feel pretty confident. (The team has) a good plan to get me back in and be ready to go for camp.\u201d While Greenard hasn\u2019t been able to participate in team drills, the former Florida Gator has been practicing with the team throughout the offseason in OTAs and minicamp. Already, he is impressed with the team culture. \u201cWe work as a championship team,\u201d Greenard said. \u201cAttention to detail is there, we are working our tails off. Even after practice, we\u2019re doing extra drills just to make sure we\u2019re all on the same page.\u201d<\/p>\n
Michael Jordan. Age: 28. Experience: Year 7. Size: 6-foot-6, 315 pounds. Jordan is a former fourth-round pick of the Bengals who has some significant NFL experience. He has played in 78 games with 49 starts in his NFL career and started 9 games for the Buccaneers just last season. The Eagles brought him in for a tryout this spring and then signed him to a contract. That doesn\u2019t mean he\u2019s going to make the team, but the Eagles did look a little light on the interior of their line in the depth department so the signing made sense. Among 79 qualified guards last season, Jordan was ranked 69th by PFF.<\/p>\n

DeSean Jackson wants his HBCU football matchup with Michael Vick to become a lasting Philadelphia classic, and the next chapter could arrive sooner than expected. Sources at MEAC Football Media Day told HBCU Gameday that conversations are ongoing about possibly moving this season\u2019s Delaware State-Norfolk State game to Lincoln Financial Field. However, nothing is official, and several major hurdles would have to be cleared with just over three months remaining before kickoff. Jackson did little to quiet the possibility when asked Tuesday whether his team would return to \u201cThe Linc\u201d this season. \u201cIt may or may not be,\u201d Jackson told HBCU Gameday. \u201cIt ain\u2019t 100%. It\u2019s not a no or yes. It may be yes, it may not. I just want to tell you, just stay tuned.\u201d<\/p>\n
Entering the offseason, the Cowboys were outside the top 20 in allocated money in void years, but in one swift offseason, they climbed to the fourth-highest in the league. The front office restructured several contracts, clearing out cap space and pushing this massive financial liability into future years. They now stand at four times the NFL median, but this is what they feel they have to do to keep up. The Philadelphia Eagles have exploited this practice to the highest degree, with over 10 times the median value, which is absolutely insane. This bookkeeping trick has allowed the Cowboys to acquire and retain more high-priced assets than in previous years. Handling the Pickens franchise tag hit? No problem. Taking on the hefty salaries of Quinnen Williams, Kenny Clark, and Rashan Gary? Bring it on. Tweaking contracts to hang on to solid players who would otherwise be cap casualties, like Terence Steele and Malik Hooker? They have done that as well. The Cowboys decided to hold on to as many pieces as they could to keep the roster stronger, rather than picking and choosing so they can maintain a respectable budget.<\/p>\n
The undrafted free agent out of South Alabama bounced around for a good long time. The Philadelphia Eagles signed him in 2018, but he didn\u2019t make final cuts. Washington signed Jeremy Reaves off the street, but bounced him off and on their practice squad over the next few years enough to give the guy whiplash. He didn\u2019t make the final roster out of camp until 2022, and that was the year he made the Pro Bowl and First-Team All-Pro as a special teamer. The Commanders signed him to a two-year, $6 million deal in 2024, and bumped that up to a new one-year, $3.5 million deal in 2025. Based on Reaves\u2019 development and how things might go with better coaching, this may be the last time he\u2019ll be talking about smaller contracts.<\/p>\n
Left guard \u2014 So far, Jon Runyan Jr. has been the clear starter at left guard, with Daniel Faalele, Joshua Ezeudu, Evan Neal, and Aaron Stinnie filling out the depth chart. However, Runyan Jr. doesn\u2019t really fit the mold for the type of blocking schemes Greg Roman uses in his run play designs. Complicating matters is the fact that Runyan carries an $11.75 million cap number, and cutting him would create $9.25 million in cap space. That would almost double the Giants\u2019 cap space and give them the flexibility to sign players in the event of injury or perhaps even maneuver on the trade market. All of that means that a camp battle may in fact materialize once the pads go on and linemen can start run blocking for real.<\/p>\n
