{"id":249570,"date":"2026-07-22T18:11:12","date_gmt":"2026-07-22T18:11:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/249570\/"},"modified":"2026-07-22T18:11:12","modified_gmt":"2026-07-22T18:11:12","slug":"multiple-shelters-care-for-cats-removed-from-pittsburgh-home","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/249570\/","title":{"rendered":"Multiple shelters care for cats removed from Pittsburgh home"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">PITTSBURGH \u2014 Animal rescue groups continue to help a large number of cats <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wpxi.com\/news\/local\/small-cat-rescues-working-rescue-60-cats-home-pittsburgh\/OCNPI2KGQRDV3J5TBLGEWEUZYI\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.wpxi.com\/news\/local\/small-cat-rescues-working-rescue-60-cats-home-pittsburgh\/OCNPI2KGQRDV3J5TBLGEWEUZYI\/\">removed from a Pittsburgh home<\/a> last week.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">The cats were removed from an apparent hoarding situation in Perry South.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">Humane Animal Rescue of Pittsburgh tells Channel 11 that it took in seven cats, one of which has to be \u201chumanely euthanized following a comprehensive medical and behavioral evaluation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">\u201cAs with every animal in our care, this difficult decision was made only after careful consideration of the animal\u2019s welfare, quality of life and safety concerns,\u201d a statement from HARP reads.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">A number of small animal rescues have taken in 20 cats, all of which have reportedly tested negative for any diseases.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">However, some are being treated for fleas, worms and malnutrition.
