Erie police have made two arrests in connection to Erie’s first shooting homicide of the year.<\/p>\n
The suspects are identified as 20-year-old Jaylin Daniels and 23-year-old Jewels Johnson.<\/p>\n
The fatal shooting happened around 7:30 p.m. on July 7, near East 10th and Brandes Streets.<\/p>\n
According to the criminal complaint, 61-year-old Frederick Torrence struck Daniels with his vehicle and drove with him on his hood for an entire block.<\/p>\n
Police say Daniels then got into an SUV driven by Johnson, and pulled up behind Torrence.<\/p>\n
Based on surveillance video, police say Daniels then ran up to Torrence’s vehicle and fired several shots.<\/p>\n
According to the criminal complaint, Torrence then crashed his vehicle into the SUV, which disabled both vehicles.<\/p>\n
Torrence suffered from gunshot wounds to his arm and chest and was pronounced dead at the scene.<\/p>\n
Johnson was arrested at the scene shortly after the shooting.<\/p>\n
According to Erie Police Chief Rick Lorah, the initially had the warrant sealed to avoid tipping off Daniels.<\/p>\n
Daniels was arrested on Monday, just outside of Pittsburgh.<\/p>\n
