PHILADELPHIA \u2014 A Jenkintown man has been charged with impersonating an FBI agent during an incident at a Philadelphia supermarket.<\/p>\n
Seok Joon Lee, 54, exact address unavailable, was charged in U.S. District Court in Philadelphia with impersonating a federal officer in connection with an April 22, 2026, incident at an undisclosed Philadelphia supermarket.<\/p>\n
If convicted of the charge, Lee faces a possible maximum sentence of three years in prison as well as a fine.<\/p>\n
U.S. Attorney David Metcalf announced the charges against Lee.<\/p>\n
According to the indictment, Lee falsely assumed and pretended to be an agent and employee of the FBI when he entered the market on April 22 while wearing a bulletproof vest, a law enforcement-type duty belt, a holstered firearm loaded with 13 rounds of live ammunition and two spare magazines.<\/p>\n
Lee allegedly identified himself as an FBI agent to a security guard and attempted to conduct a security check at the supermarket.<\/p>\n
Lee later stated to responding officers from the Philadelphia Police Department that he was \u201cundercover FBI\u201d and that his credentials and FBI number could be located elsewhere, federal authorities alleged.<\/p>\n
The incident was investigated by the FBI, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives and the Philadelphia Police Department.<\/p>\n
Assistant U.S. Attorneys Michael R. Miller and Nelson S.T.
