The Navarre Bethlehem Historical Society has arranged its museum exhibits in celebration of the nation’s 250th anniversary.

The museum is open to the public for tours from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesdays. Those who need to visit at another time may call 330-879-5938 to schedule an appointment.

The historical society maintains three buildings and is seeking financial support for several improvement projects. Two buildings need new roofs, two need new furnaces and an old wooden fence needs to be replaced with a vinyl fence.

The society applied for a state grant but is responsible for half the cost of the improvements. A member made a donation that will allow the society to begin replacing the roofs.

The museum also received a student desk from the estate of former teacher Florence Engleman.

Society members are at the museum from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesdays to assess donated items, file materials and research local properties and family histories. Residents with photographs or information about their relatives may bring the materials to the museum so copies can be made for its files.

The society is planning its annual car show for Sept. 27 at the corner of Main and Center streets in Navarre. Additional details will be announced next month. Information also is available by calling 330-879-5938.

The society’s next monthly meeting will be Aug. 12.
