An investigation is underway after a viral video<\/a> surfaced showing a SEPTA police officer shoving a man who then falls into another man in a wheelchair in Philadelphia’s Kensington neighborhood. <\/p>\n

The video was posted by Open Diary J<\/a>, a content creator who describes his work as an open conversation. “Street interviews. Real Stories. No filter. Raising awareness one story at a time,” reads his Facebook bio<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tSEPTA is investigating a viral video which shows an officer pushing a man who then falls into a man in a wheelchair, knocking him over, in Philadelphia’s Kensington neighborhood. According to SEPTA spokesperson Andrew Busch, a SEPTA police officer confronted a man who was “caught tailgating through the fare line behind a paying customer and was being escorted off the property.” The video does not show this, however.\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n

In the video, a SEPTA officer pushes a man twice. The man then falls into another man in a wheelchair who falls to the ground. The first man then pushes the SEPTA officer and a second officer moves in. The two officers restrain the first man while a third SEPTA officer helps the man in the wheelchair who fell. <\/p>\n

The video does not show what led to the confrontation. <\/p>\n

As of about 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 23, the video had accumulated more than 1.6 million views.<\/p>\n

Contacted about the incident, SEPTA officials said the confrontation happened on Monday, July 20, outside Allegheny Station along the Market-Frankford Line. According to SEPTA spokesperson Andrew Busch, a SEPTA police officer confronted a man who was “caught tailgating through the fare line behind a paying customer and was being escorted off the property.”<\/p>\n

Busch told NBC10 that no injuries were reported in the incident. Despite this, the man who was in the wheelchair told NBC10 he’s been dealing with pain since falling on Monday. <\/p>\n

“My lower back and now my left leg,” the man, who wanted to remain anonymous, told NBC10 on Thursday. <\/p>\n

An investigation with the SEPTA Police Department’s internal affairs team is ongoing, officials said. <\/p>\n

The creator who filmed this incident did not immediately respond to a request for comment. NBC10 also reached out to SEPTA for body worn camera footage of the incident. Busch told NBC10 the footage will not be released at this time. <\/p>\n

“Normally, we would release the body camera and surveillance video immediately, but for this incident, we have to wait until the internal affairs investigation concludes,” Busch wrote. <\/p>\n

Ultimately, Busch said no citation was issued in this incident. <\/p>\n
