{"id":250822,"date":"2026-07-24T02:58:12","date_gmt":"2026-07-24T02:58:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/250822\/"},"modified":"2026-07-24T02:58:12","modified_gmt":"2026-07-24T02:58:12","slug":"light-of-life-holds-annual-event-in-pittsburgh-offering-resources-to-people-in-need","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/250822\/","title":{"rendered":"Light of Life holds annual event in Pittsburgh, offering resources to people in need"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">PITTSBURGH \u2014 A local nonprofit spent the day helping people in need.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">Light of Life held its annual \u201cDay of Hope\u201d at Allegheny Commons Park on Thursday. <\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">The event is designed to bring people in the community together and lend them a helping hand.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">Two hundred volunteers handed out food, clothing, and hygiene kits.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">People dealing with homelessness, poverty, or addiction were guided to critical resources to fight those struggles.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">Over 40 community organizations, including other nonprofits and healthcare and community partners, offered those resources. <\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">Assistant Executive Director Doug Smith said events like this highlight the best in people.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">\u201cThe Day of Hope is so fitting every year, and it means so much. Even seeing people go through the line and getting prayed for and getting connected to services.
