This year, the annual NFL Top 100 list is being revealed over the not so brief span of June 22 through September 4. A couple of former Philadelphia Eagles players have already made appearances (A.J. Brown at No. 80, Josh Sweat at No. 78) but now a current member of the Birds has finally been revealed. Jalen Hurts is checking in at No. 56, according to this list determined by player voting. Here\u2019s a highlights clip that features praise from his peers.<\/p>\n
iOL Jackson Powers-Johnson (23), Raiders (6\u20193, 325) [\u2026] He reminds me a little of a shorter Landon Dickerson. This year, Powers-Johnson is in a camp battle for a starting guard spot with 2025 third-round pick Caleb Rogers. If it\u2019s looking like Powers-Johnson is losing that battle, the Raiders could view him as expendable, and the Eagles could view him as immediate iOL depth as well as a reclamation project who could potentially take over for Dickerson if Dickerson has an early retirement. Projected cost: Sixth-round pick.<\/p>\n
WR Hollywood Brown: Because the Eagles drafted Makai Lemon and because they traded for Dontayvion Wicks, Brown has sort of become the forgotten receiver in the room. But Brown is a former first-round pick who had 587 receiving yards with the Chiefs just last year. He provides some real depth at the position and even in Year 8 still has blazing speed. [\u2026] WR Makai Lemon: The Eagles traded up to No. 20 overall to draft Lemon out of USC but he missed the end of spring practices with a hamstring injury. Lemon should be back on the field for training camp and all eyes will be on the first-round pick. [\u2026] WR Dontayvion Wicks: Not only did the Eagles trade to acquire Wicks but then they gave him a one-year extension worth $12.5 million. Wicks has a leg up in the receiver competition because he has already played in a Shanahan-style offense and under new OC Sean Mannion. The Eagles are hoping Wicks has untapped potential he wasn\u2019t able to reach in Green Bay because he was buried on the Packers\u2019 depth chart.<\/p>\n
Cooper DeJean and Reed Blankenship hosted Vic Fangio on their podcast this summer. The visit brought an admission from the Philadelphia Eagles defensive coordinator about DeJean that Fangio first revealed in the spring and showcased during offseason practices, when DeJean played safety while the Eagles aligned in their base defense. Fangio\u2019s comment seemed especially relevant given that the star slot cornerback and the former starting safety shared the screen like they used to share the secondary. \u201cYour days at corner hopefully are over,\u201d Fangio told him on \u201cExciting Mics<\/a>.\u201d \u201c\u2026 Coop is replacing Reed part time.\u201d The context to the statement is that DeJean, a first-team All-Pro in his second season, is an every-down player for the Eagles. On most snaps, that means he plays in the slot \u2014 where he was considered the best in the NFL. When the Eagles are not playing with five or six defensive backs in the formation, they still want DeJean on the field. The question becomes where he plays.<\/p>\n

A.J. BROWN – Brown is coming off a down season in Philly, at least by his standards, but he should be rejuvenated and motivated to prove he has plenty of juice left. The big-bodied wide receiver is a perfect fit in New England. He brings yards-after-catch ability to an offense that was woeful in that area a year ago. Brown fits Drake Maye\u2019s strengths to a T. Last season on go, post and slant routes, Maye finished first in pass yards per attempt and passer rating and second in completion rate, per Next Gen Stats. Since 2022, Brown has the most yards on such routes. Hand, meet glove.<\/p>\n
Will Grier came back to his hometown team three months ago, but his comeback won\u2019t continue into training camp. The veteran quarterback has chosen to retire. The Panthers placed him on the reserve\/retired list on Wednesday. The 31-year-old Grier was originally a third-round pick of the Panthers in 2019, and signed a one-year deal here before the draft. He has also spent time with the Cowboys, Bengals, Patriots, Chargers, Eagles, and the Cowboys again. He appeared in two regular-season games, both here during his rookie season.<\/p>\n
Is Joe Milton the backup quarterback on this team right now? If you answered yes, did you do so confidently? There is a lot to like about Milton and his athletic profile. There is zero doubt that he is an intriguing prospect and someone who may be molded into a proper NFL signal-caller. He can also throw it a mile. Unfortunately, Milton doesn\u2019t exactly have a ton of NFL experience. He does have that within the Cowboys as he was the team\u2019s primary backup last year, but the front office and coaching staff didn\u2019t bring in Sam Howell for no reason at all. This is the case because Howell has legitimate NFL starts to his name. In fact, Howell has an entire season\u2019s worth of starts on his resum\u00e9. Howell was Washington\u2019s starter across the entire 2023 season. He even earned a place in Cowboys lore that season as it was his interception which DaRon Bland returned for a touchdown to set the record for most in a single season, a feat that Jim Nantz brilliantly called on Thanksgiving Day.<\/p>\n

There are plenty of reasons for optimism around the New York Giants as training camp approaches. One of the biggest reasons for optimism as we march toward training camp? The youth on the Giants\u2019 roster. In fact, ESPN\u2019s Aaron Schatz ranks the Giants ninth in the NFL in terms of talent under the age of 25. The Giants feature one of the youngest rosters in the NFL and will be looking to their youngsters as contributors in every position group. The Giants have had a relatively young team for a while now, though that was masked by age outliers like Graham Gano, Russell Wilson, and Greg Van Roten. Now, the youth movement has become more obvious as the team has moved away from those veterans.<\/p>\n
This is the first season in a decade where the Giants feel like legitimate threats to make waves in the NFC East. It\u2019s a tough division, but one where anyone can win if things go the right way. There\u2019s nothing specifically about the Cowboys or Commanders that gives them an appreciable edge over New York, and with Philadelphia the team is going through a small roster shift that could be exploited if they don\u2019t meet their lofty potential in 2026. It\u2019s precisely why John Harbaugh was the right man for the job at this time. Truthfully, I don\u2019t know if he\u2019s an especially long-term option at head coach because at times, he\u2019s felt a little intractable to moving with the times in the NFL \u2014 but the man knows how to run a professional football organization. He understands the moving parts that need to come together, and, better than anyone, he knows the importance of his quarterback and running back being healthy, given his recent years in Baltimore.<\/p>\n
