READING, Pa. – The race for Reading City Council District 4, which featured two newcomers vying for the seat, has been decided.<\/p>\n
Democratic candidate Ray Baker, a Berks County assistant district attorney, won over Republican challenger Gary Colby. District 4 incumbent Wesley Butler, who became the youngest member in council history at age 20, did not seek re-election.<\/p>\n
During the campaign, Baker pointed to his career as a prosecutor, saying his commitment to justice has made a lasting impact on Reading\u2019s neighborhoods.<\/p>\n
Baker’s plans to improve Reading include building new, affordable housing, rebuilding downtown Reading into a walkable, shoppable, and safe town center, and replacing dilapidated housing and commercial properties.<\/p>\n
