{"id":25111,"date":"2025-11-05T04:41:09","date_gmt":"2025-11-05T04:41:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/25111\/"},"modified":"2025-11-05T04:41:09","modified_gmt":"2025-11-05T04:41:09","slug":"democratic-incumbents-lead-in-lackawanna-county-row-office-races","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/25111\/","title":{"rendered":"Democratic incumbents lead in Lackawanna County row office races"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Democratic incumbent Lackawanna County row officers swept Tuesday\u2019s municipal election, winning in every contested row office race.<\/p>\n<p>In the special election for clerk of judicial records, the only row office race featuring three candidates, appointed Democratic incumbent Clerk Lauren Bieber Mailen comfortably defended the seat she assumed in early September. The committee subsequently chose her as the Democratic nominee in the special election, with the county Republican Committee tapping Green as the GOP nominee.<\/p>\n<p>A longtime Democratic stalwart, Eagen launched her independent campaign for clerk of judicial records after the committee nominated Mailen as the Democratic candidate. She had billed herself as the \u201creal Democrat\u201d in the race.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI would just really like to thank those that showed up \u2014 the Democrats really came out for us \u2014 and for all my supporters that stood by me, my family, my friends and the true Democrats in my eyes that stood by my side and didn\u2019t give up on me,\u201d Mailen said late Tuesday. \u201cI really appreciate all of that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Sheriff<\/p>\n<p>Also Tuesday, incumbent Democratic Sheriff Mark P. McAndrew handily defeated Republican Glenn Capman in the sheriff race, winning a fourth four-year term by earning nearly 71% of the vote.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" alt=\"Mark P. McAndrew\n<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"#\" class=\"icon-enlarge mng-gallery-fullscreen-expand\" aria-label=\"Expand fullscreen slideshow\">Expand<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The contest was a rematch of the 2021 race for sheriff, with McAndrew outperforming himself from four years ago. Lienert, who secured the GOP nomination for register of wills via primary write-in votes, earned 20,644 votes Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>District attorney<\/p>\n<p>Incumbent Democratic District Attorney Brian Gallagher was uncontested Tuesday in pursuit of a full four-year term he won with 99% of the vote.<\/p>\n<p>A former first assistant district attorney, Gallagher became DA in early February, when former District Attorney Mark Powell filled a judicial vacancy and became a county judge.<\/p>\n<p>Powell won a full 10-year term on the county bench Tuesday, running unopposed.<\/p>\n<p>All election results are unofficial until certified by the county Board of Elections.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Democratic incumbent Lackawanna County row officers swept Tuesday\u2019s municipal election, winning in every contested row office race.
