Original Pittsburgh Winery is closing in Strip District<\/p>\n

Owners of The Original Pittsburgh Winery are making a difficult decision to close the doors for good.<\/p>\n

The location on Penn Avenue in the city’s Strip District has been open for more than a decade, hosting performances in its underground venue.<\/p>\n

A post on the winery’s social media pages<\/a> called the closure “painful and heartbreaking for all of us” and said it was “a fate that far too many independent music venues across the country are currently contending with.”<\/p>\n

Co-owner Tim Gaber told Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 that financial difficulties are to blame, but he invites customers to come out one more time before the venue closes Aug. 15.<\/p>\n

“We want to celebrate what we’ve done,” Gaber said. “We’ve been here 15 years. We’ve done thousands of shows, and the community has been wonderful, and the outpouring of love has been great, and we want to give everyone the opportunity to come out one or two last times, come see a show, come say goodbye.”<\/p>\n
