CHICOPEE \u2014 A man with 93 pending criminal charges out of Pennsylvania was apprehended on the side of the highway in Chicopee by Massachusetts State Police troopers last week, adding yet another charge to his rap sheet: fugitive from justice.<\/p>\n
Michael Lord Rego, 25, had been on the run from police. It is unclear from previous reporting and Pennsylvania court documents how long Rego has evaded law enforcement, though that is one of the several charges racked up against him.<\/p>\n
Most of the charges allege theft from vehicles and obstructing law enforcement, court documents show.<\/p>\n
On July 17, state police troopers received multiple reports of a man walking along the shoulder of Interstate 91 going south, according to a statement of facts. Trooper Daniel Harpin Jr. found the man at around 7:30 p.m. on Interstate 391 in Chicopee.<\/p>\n
The troopers conducted a pedestrian stop, checked Rego’s driver’s license, and learned there was an active warrant for his arrest from Pennsylvania.<\/p>\n
Rego was cuffed, searched and read his rights, the police report said.<\/p>\n
Later, a bail clerk ordered Rego to be held without bail.<\/p>\n
In 2020, WJAC, the NBC affiliate for central-west Pennsylvania, reported that Rego was one of three people arrested for allegedly conducting a string of thefts<\/a> from vehicles.<\/p>\n At the time, he was facing several charges, including 42 counts of theft from a motor vehicle, and charges of burglary, criminal trespass, fleeing police and reckless endangerment.<\/p>\n Read the original article on MassLive<\/a>.
