(WHTM) \u2014 Measles cases are continuing to rise in Pennsylvania amid a national outbreak not seen in decades.<\/p>\n
The Commonwealth had 29 new cases in the past week, making this year’s total so far 139. A majority of them, 127, have been reported since April 1 and are largely among the unvaccinated public. No deaths have been reported, but dozens have been hospitalized.<\/p>\n
Most cases have been in adults 25-49, and 59 cases have been reported in children. The majority of cases statewide are in Lancaster County (89), with Lebanon and Chester counties also reporting double-digit cases.<\/p>\n
Other cases have been reported in Berks, Dauphin, Indiana, Mifflin, Montgomery, Northumberland, Snyder, and York counties.<\/p>\n
The Pennsylvania Department of Health<\/a> says it’s administered nearly 2,000 measles vaccines this year, more than half of which have been provided since June 1.<\/p>\n Nationwide, over 2,300 cases have been reported. Arizona, Florida, South Carolina, Texas, Utah, and Virginia have also reported more than 100 cases each.
