LeBron James\u2019 signing won\u2019t be the final move of the Sixers\u2019 offseason.<\/p>\n
Kentavious Caldwell-Pope is negotiating a contract buyout with the Grizzlies and \u201cintends to team back up\u201d with James, Chris Haynes reported late Friday night.<\/a><\/p>\n Caldwell-Pope had exercised his $21.6 million player option last month.<\/a> It’s not yet known how the Sixers will create the necessary roster space<\/a> to add him and James. <\/p>\n The 33-year-old Caldwell-Pope has won NBA championships on the 2019-20 Lakers (with James) and on the 2022-23 Nuggets. He\u2019s a 6-foot-5 shooting guard with a longstanding 3-and-D reputation who averaged 8.4 points, 2.7 assists and 2.5 rebounds for Memphis last year in 21.3 minutes per game. Caldwell-Pope\u2019s 31.6 percent mark from three-point range was his worst since the 2015-16 season.<\/p>\n He underwent season-ending surgery in February to address a right pinkie finger injury.<\/a> The Grizzlies said at the time that Caldwell-Pope was expected to fully recover and be available for the start of the 2026-27 season. <\/p>\n James<\/a> and Jaylen Brown<\/a> have been the Sixers\u2019 summer headliners, but president of basketball operations Mike Gansey <\/a>has also picked up a variety of role players like forward Dean Wade<\/a>, combo guard Anfernee Simons<\/a> and center Ariel Hukporti.<\/a> The latest is reportedly a familiar face for James.\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"LeBron James\u2019 signing won\u2019t be the final move of the Sixers\u2019 offseason.
