An off-duty Philadelphia police officer is charged with killing a 27-year-old man in what authorities said was a domestic incident Friday in Northampton County.<\/a><\/p>\n

Kenroy Cummings, 25, is in custody and was arraigned on a charge of homicide Friday night in the shooting that happened in the 1200 block of Old Gate Road in Allen Township, District Attorney Stephen Baratta said. Cummings was also charged with fleeing and eluding police, Baratta said.<\/p>\n

Reached Saturday, the DA said the shooting was the result of a domestic dispute, and that Cummings and the victim are related.<\/p>\n

Investigators went to the home about 1:45 p.m. for a report of a domestic incident there. Investigators determined a 27-year-old had been shot by a man, who fled the scene, according to a state police news release. He was seen in the area of Race Street and Airport Road in Hanover Township, Lehigh County, not long after the incident, according to authorities.<\/p>\n

He fled from police, but later returned to the scene, and was arrested, the release states.<\/p>\n

The alleged victim was taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Muhlenberg, where he died from his injuries about 2:45 p.m. Lehigh County Coroner Daniel A. Buglio said his death was caused by gunshot injuries, with the manner homicide.<\/p>\n

The coroner said he would not be releasing the man\u2019s name until the after the autopsy, which is scheduled for Monday.<\/p>\n

Baratta said state police are investigating, and that additional information would be in the criminal complaint, which would be available when courts open Monday morning.<\/p>\n

Philadelphia police said Saturday that its internal affairs bureau has been notified of the incident and has started its administrative investigation.
