{"id":252543,"date":"2026-07-26T20:41:09","date_gmt":"2026-07-26T20:41:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/252543\/"},"modified":"2026-07-26T20:41:09","modified_gmt":"2026-07-26T20:41:09","slug":"philly-officer-charged-after-shooting-in-northampton-county-nbc10-philadelphia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/252543\/","title":{"rendered":"Philly officer charged after shooting in Northampton County \u2013 NBC10 Philadelphia"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Charges have been filed against <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcphiladelphia.com\/news\/local\/man-27-shot-to-death-after-reported-domestic-incident-in-northampton-county\/4438690\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.nbcphiladelphia.com\/news\/local\/man-27-shot-to-death-after-reported-domestic-incident-in-northampton-county\/4438690\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">a Philadelphia police officer who was off-duty when he was involved with a deadly shooting at a home<\/a>, according to the Pennsylvania State Police. <\/p>\n<p>Troopers said that they were called to a home on the 1200 block of Old Gate Road in Allen Township after a domestic incident was reported on Friday, July 24 around 1:48 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>When the troopers got there they a 27-year-old man man suffering from at least one gunshot wound, officials said. <\/p>\n<p>The 25-year-old suspect, identified by authorities as Kenroy Cummings, drove away from the scene in an orange-colored 2023 Kia Forte, troopers said. <\/p>\n<p>At one point, troopers said they saw the Kia near Race Street and Airport Road in Hanover Township so they turned on their emergency lights. <\/p>\n<p>Once the lights were on, Cummings fled in the Kia away from the troopers, officials explained. <\/p>\n<p>Troopers continued to chase the Kia until Cummings ultimately went back to the house, according to state police. <\/p>\n<p>This is when the troopers were able to take Cummings into custody, officials said. <\/p>\n<p>The victim was taken to a nearby hospital where he died at 2:45 p.m., officials said.<\/p>\n<p>Cummings was charged with criminal homicide and fleeing or attempting to elude officer charges. <\/p>\n<p>\tIf you or someone you know is experiencing domestic violence, contact the National Domestic Violence Hotline by calling 1-800-799-SAFE (7233), visiting\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thehotline.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">www.thehotline.org<\/a>\u00a0or texting LOVEIS to 22522.<\/p>\n<p>Neighbors in Allen Township \u2013 who wanted to remain anonymous \u2013 told NBC10 the man who was shot and killed was Officer Cummings&#8217; uncle. The neighbors claimed the uncle got into an argument at the home with Officer Cummings&#8217; siblings.
