However, storms moving through the region late Monday are already causing the potential for flash flooding, and the weather service has declared a flash flood warning for central Lehigh County.<\/p>\n<p lang=\"da\" dir=\"ltr\">Flash Flood Warning including Breinigsville PA, Trexlertown PA and  Fogelsville PA until 9:30 PM EDT <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/jN1AEFaUkj\" rel=\"nofollow\">pic.twitter.com\/jN1AEFaUkj<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 NWS Mount Holly (@NWS_MountHolly) <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/NWS_MountHolly\/status\/2081853740395401349?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" rel=\"nofollow\">July 27, 2026<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Areas under the flash flood warning, which is in effect until 9 p.m., include Breinigsville, Trexlertown and Fogelsville, according to the weather service.<\/p>\n<p>Just before 5:30 p.m., heavy thunderstorms \u2014 reported to have dropped between 1 and 2 inches of rain \u2014 were moving through the affected region. Flash flooding is either occurring or expected to occur shortly, according to the warning.<\/p>\n<p>Flash flooding could occur along streams, creeks and roads, as well as in low-lying, poor drainage and urban areas, the weather service said. Motorists in the area are reminded to refrain from driving through flooded roadways.<\/p>\n<p>Elsewhere, one storm moving across the southern Poconos prompted a severe thunderstorm warning for portions of Monroe and northern Northampton counties, including the Bangor area, until 4:30 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>The weather service had warned the region was at a marginal risk of severe weather as a period of unsettled weather began.<\/p>\n<p>In a post on its social media channels Monday morning, the weather service\u2019s Mount Holly, New Jersey, forecast office said it \u201ccannot rule out a strong to severe thunderstorm this afternoon and evening capable of producing damaging wind gusts.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Showers and thunderstorms are expected to increase over the region Tuesday morning and afternoon. Rainfall rates of 1-2 inches per hour are possible, according to the weather service.<\/p>\n<p>Excessive rainfall from the storms could cause flash flooding along rivers, creeks and streams, as well as in low-lying, poor drainage or urban areas, according to the flood watch.<\/p>\n<p>Total rainfall amounts of 2-4 inches are possible across portions of the region are possible through Tuesday night. The weather service put the region at a \u201cslight\u201d risk of excessive rain Tuesday, which means the probability of excessive rainfall leading to flash flooding is at least 15%.<\/p>\n<p>The weather is expected to clear just in time as Musikfest gets under way later in the week, with a preview night Thursday and the first day of the festival Friday. The festival is expected to kick off with mostly sunny skies and highs in the low 80s for its first few days.<\/p>\n<p>Here is the extended forecast:<\/p>\n<p>Tuesday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms before noon, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm between noon and 2 p.m., then showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m. Patchy fog before 9am. High near 79. South wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New rainfall amounts between three quarters and one inch possible.<\/p>\n<p>Tuesday Night: Showers and thunderstorms before 2 a.m., then a chance of showers. Low around 64. Southeast wind around 5 mph becoming southwest after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.<\/p>\n<p>Wednesday: Showers likely, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 11 a.m. High near 79. Northwest wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.<\/p>\n<p>Wednesday Night: Showers and thunderstorms before 11 p.m., then a chance of showers between 11 p.m. and 2 a.m. Low around 63. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.<\/p>\n<p>Thursday: A chance of showers after 8 a.m. Partly sunny, with a high near 79.
