The event will highlight their lifelong service and raise funds for the sisters’ care.<\/p>\n
DUNMORE, Pa. \u2014 Our Lady of Peace in Dunmore is a home for retired Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. More than 100 retired sisters live there, after dedicating their lives to serving God.<\/p>\n
“The thing I appreciate most is the peace. It was very hard for me to leave the ministry I was doing because I loved it,” Sister Jane Connolly said.<\/p>\n
The retired sisters have spent their lives helping others.<\/p>\n
“They serviced our schools, our hospitals, our parishes all these years, and now it’s time for the community to give back to the sisters,” Board President Ann Rink said.<\/p>\n
This Friday, there is a benefit to raise money for the care of the retired IHM Sisters. The IHM Sisters Celebration is a way to honor the retired sisters while raising money for their retirement. The event starts at 5 p.m. with a cocktail hour and continues with a program. \u00a0<\/p>\n
“At retirement, we can know that we will live in community and share our lives, our prayer, and be cared for,” Sister Cor Immaculatum said.<\/p>\n
“The generosity of people just puts food on the table. It’s a gift. It’s a blessing,” Connolly said.<\/p>\n
