Dispatch reports indicate that all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) were requested to help emergency personnel access the remote incident location along the trail.<\/p>\n Emergency Medical Evacuation<\/p>\n One person was transported via helicopter to a nearby hospital after being injured in the shooting. The extent of the victim\u2019s injuries has not yet been released, though early reports indicate that a man suffered a gunshot wound to the leg.<\/p>\n Authorities have not provided information about a suspect or the circumstances surrounding the shooting, and it is unclear whether anyone has been taken into custody.<\/p>\n Response to the Shooting<\/p>\n Officials say no roads have been closed as a result of the incident.<\/p>\n The investigation remains ongoing, and additional information is expected to be released as it becomes available.<\/p>\n UPDATE: Tuesday morning, Washington Township Police released a statement saying:<\/p>\n \u201cThe Washington Township Police Department responded to assist with a medical call for a reported shooting near the Appalachian Trail, with access from Rattlesnake Run Road. Officers stood by to maintain scene integrity and assist with processing as needed. The incident was determined to be accidental, and there is no threat to the public.
