She departed this life following declining health, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.<\/p>\n<p>\nA graduate of Scranton Technical High School, Elaine, as she was affectionately known, was a career government civil service employee serving in various roles as an office manager and administrative assistant over a 20+ year span. After working most of her career with the U.S. Air Force and Navy, her most recent position was with the Social Security Administration. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles A. Guse, a career Navy sailor and proud member of the Seabees mobile construction force. Married in 1957, Charles and Elaine started a family as he progressed through his career in the Seabees.<\/p>\n<p>\nElaine resided in San Diego, CA, Port Hueneme, CA, Gulfport, MS, Newport, RI, Belton, MO, and Lakehurst, NJ while raising four children. Elaine enjoyed time with family, bowling, and card club. Elaine found immense joy in caring for her home, husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, nurturing a family that continues to carry forward her love and values. A devout member of St. Peter\u2019s Cathedral in Scranton, she attended services faithfully until her health no longer permitted. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, providing strength and comfort throughout her journey.<\/p>\n<p>\nElaine was also preceded in death by her father, Frank Joseph Neureuter, her mother, Geraldine Ann Wilcom, her brother, Frank Joseph Neureuter, and sons-in-law James Alexander and Alan Demchak.<\/p>\n<p>\nShe leaves behind a loving family who will forever treasure her memory: daughters Michele Guse and Elynn Alexander, both of Chesapeake, VA, sons Charles Brian Guse (Leanna) of Hot Springs, AR, and Stephen Lee Guse (Dianne) of Williamsburg, VA; grandchildren Lori Dabbs (Stephen), Christian Mosburg Davis (Brett), Emily Guse (David), Elisabeth Laubscher (Johan), Christopher Guse (Sara), Taylor Pritchard (Noah), Connor and Natalie Demchak, Seth McDaniel (Meadow), Jamie Alexander (Cedric Duval), and Erin Alexander; and great-grandchildren Cameron Dabbs (Kaia), Hailey Beavert (Jacob), Waylon and Lilyanne Duval, and Madeleine Laubscher; great-great-grandchildren Charlotte Green and Gracelyn Dabbs.<\/p>\n<p>The Funeral Mass for Mrs. Guse will be held on Saturday August 1, 2026 at 9:00 A.M. at St. Peter\u2019s Cathedral, 315 Wyoming Ave., Scranton, PA 18505. Elaine will be laid to rest beside her late husband at St. Mary Of The Assumption Cemetery, 1341 Stafford, Ave., Scranton, PA.<\/p>\n<p>\nMrs. Guse will be taken from the Oman Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 653 Cedar Road, Chesapeake, VA to the August J. Haas Funeral Home, Inc., 202 Pittston Ave., Scranton, PA, for services and interment.<\/p>\n<p>\nPer Mrs. Guse\u2019s request, there will be no viewing.<\/p>\n<p>\nThe family welcomes messages of memories and condolences, which may be shared at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.omanfh.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">www.omanfh.com<\/a>.
