A pair of contested Reading City Council races \u2014 one in District 4 and one for council president \u2014 each went to the Democratic candidate Tuesday.<\/p>\n
Donna Reed was elected as council president, while Ray Baker handily bested his Republican competitor, Gary Colby.<\/p>\n
Two other races in Districts 1 and 5 saw Democratic candidates running uncontested. Vanessa Campos retained her seat on council, and will be joined there by Rafael Nunez.<\/p>\n

Reed, who was appointed president by her peers in January, found that voters on Tuesday felt she deserved to keep the job.<\/p>\n
Reed earned a total of 5,681 votes, while Republican Evelyn Morrison received 1,626.<\/p>\n
All vote totals are incomplete and unofficial.<\/p>\n
Council District 4<\/p>\n
Democrat Ray Baker defeated his Republican competitor by a more than 3-to-1margin.<\/p>\n
