Earlier in July, he was on Mount Davis in Somerset County, counting the timber rattlesnake population.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">He was caught off guard, and a snake bit him on the finger.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Kline was airlifted to a hospital, where he received 28 vials of antivenom.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">He may still lose his finger, but Kline doesn&#8217;t blame the snake for the incident.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">&#8220;Honestly, they&#8217;re docile,&#8221; Kline told <a data-ylk=\"slk:NBC News affiliate WJAC.;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;\" data-yga=\"{&quot;yLinkElement&quot;:&quot;link&quot;,&quot;yLinkElementType&quot;:&quot;article_link&quot;}\" href=\"https:\/\/wjactv.com\/news\/local\/somerset-county-snake-handler-recovering-weeks-after-timber-rattlesnake-bite\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">NBC News affiliate WJAC.<\/a> &#8220;They really are. What happened to me is my fault. Just a snake being a snake and me being dumb.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">If you encounter a rattlesnake while hiking, state officials say you should give it space.
