In his 30 years of working at Kinem’s Sports Cards, owner Michael Brown has had a lot of rare cards come through his store.<\/p>\n
However, none of them compare to a baseball card that was pulled from a box this week.<\/p>\n
“As far as the timing, yes this is the most expensive card that we’ve pulled.” said Brown.<\/p>\n
On Monday, while conducting a live-streamed card break video on Facebook, Brown’s friend Steven Fromknecht came across a rare find.<\/p>\n
One of the packs contained an incredibly rare 2026 Topps Chrome Gold MLB Logoman Patch Card of Nick Kurtz.<\/p>\n
“There’s only 4 of them in the world,” said Fromknecht. “Any logoman gold logo man is just huge because it’s the game-worn patch only certain players get to wear, for getting an award and his autograph. It’s just a huge product.”<\/p>\n
According to Brown, they use eBay and other apps to appraise each card.<\/p>\n
So how much is the Kurtz card worth?<\/p>\n
“I’ve reached out to a couple of bigger collectors,” said Brown. “If I had to ball park, kind of broad range, probably $25,000 to $50,000.”<\/p>\n
“Monetarily, you never know where it goes,” said Fromknecht. “It could be $100,000 by the end of the month. If Nick Kurtz keeps going and doing what he’s doing, the sky is the limit.”<\/p>\n
A total of 30 people signed up for the card break.<\/p>\n
Each person receives all of the cards from the specific MLB team they are assigned.<\/p>\n
Dave Bell was assigned the Athletics, and will now take home the rare Kurtz card.<\/p>\n
“It’s just cool to watch,” said Brown. “Maybe if you watch our videos and just the breaks and stuff, hopefully you see some of the cool stuff that gets pulled, hopefully gets more people into the hobby.”<\/p>\n
