ALSACE TWP., Pa. – Nearby homeowner Brenda Dark says she won’t forget this storm any time soon.<\/p>\n
“This has been the worst summer storm, I think. We had the one in October with the snow, but as far as the summer, this is really bad,” said Dark.<\/p>\n
Berks Fire and Water Restoration crews are working to put the pieces back together for homeowners after a picky isolated storm.<\/p>\n
“Coming up the road here, no damage. Then you turn onto this road, and then it’s just a line of trees all the way up and down that got knocked over, but nothing else around it, just this one area got straight line winds,” said Jon Fetzer of Berks Fire & Water Restoration.<\/p>\n
Tuesday\u2019s storm knocked down trees and punched out power for hundreds.<\/p>\n
“That’s what got us to buy the generator. We were out for three or four days back in the wintertime,” said homeowner Steve Dark.<\/p>\n
In Alsace Township, crews worked to restore power and get residents back online one day after the storms.<\/p>\n
“Kind of a matter of time on them, but sometimes you never know. I would have never guessed this tree would have fallen,” Fetzer said.<\/p>\n
Crews worked to rebuild a roof on a home along Wanner Road. Fortunately, the homeowners were away, and no one got hurt.<\/p>\n
“We kinda cleared out around the house when we built this place for that reason. Didn’t want to get too nervous when the wind was blowing,” said Steve Dark.<\/p>\n
One resident hopes the rest of the summer won’t be as bad.<\/p>\n
“Hopefully nothing like this,” Steve Dark said.<\/p>\n
Regardless, clean-up crews say you should take the time to prepare before a storm.<\/p>\n
“It’s still the middle of the summer, so we could get a lot more of these storms.
