{"id":255218,"date":"2026-07-30T04:20:15","date_gmt":"2026-07-30T04:20:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/255218\/"},"modified":"2026-07-30T04:20:15","modified_gmt":"2026-07-30T04:20:15","slug":"riverzilla-returns-to-reading-with-cleanup-kayaking-community-activities-reading-area","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/255218\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;Riverzilla&#8217; returns to Reading with cleanup, kayaking, community activities | Reading Area"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>READING, Pa. \u2013 The Schuylkill River looks peaceful in Reading, but along the riverbank, there&#8217;s still work to do.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;One of the biggest things that we&#8217;re still seeing on the riverbank is people grilling and leaving behind like their foil pans and things like that,&#8221; said Bethany Ayers Fisher, sustainability manager for the City of Reading.<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s where <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.readingpa.gov\/press-releases\/1974-5th-annual-riverzilla-community-day-park-clean-up\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">\u201cRiverzilla\u201d<\/a> comes in. The annual event returns to Riverfront Park Saturday at 9 a.m., starting with a cleanup.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;And then at 11, we start with the kayaking.
