Forest City Area Historical Society to rededicate restored \u2018Spirit of \u201976\u2019 plaque<\/p>\n
The Forest City Area Historical Society will host a rededication ceremony of the restored \u201cSpirit of \u201976\u201d plaque, a cherished piece of the community\u2019s history that has been carefully renovated and preserved for future generations.<\/p>\n
The ceremony will take place Saturday, Aug. 1, immediately following the Distinguished Citizen presentation at approximately 3:45 p.m. at the Forest City Area Historical Society, Main and Dundaff streets, Forest City.<\/p>\n
Originally displayed at the former Forest City High School on North Main Street, the historic plaque has long served as a symbol of patriotism, pride and the enduring legacy of the students and community members who passed through the school\u2019s halls. Through the efforts of the Forest City Area Historical Society, the plaque has undergone extensive restoration.<\/p>\n
The rededication ceremony celebrates not only the preservation of an important local artifact but also the society\u2019s commitment to safeguarding the rich heritage of Forest City and the surrounding communities. The Forest City Area Historical Society extends its sincere appreciation to everyone whose support, dedication, and craftsmanship made the restoration possible.<\/p>\n
Community members, former students, alumni, local officials and history enthusiasts are invited to attend the rededication ceremony and join in recognizing this significant milestone in preserving Forest City\u2019s heritage.<\/p>\n

Wright Center to celebrate National Health Center Week with children\u2019s fair, events<\/p>\n
The Wright Center for Community Health will host The Wright Way to Wellness: Kids Edition, a free children\u2019s wellness fair, Thursday, Aug. 6, from 2 to 5 p.m. in the auditorium at the Wright Center for Community Health Scranton, 501 S. Washington Ave. The event is part of National Health Center Week.<\/p>\n
The fair, which is open to the public, returns for a second consecutive year after drawing several hundred families to its inaugural program.<\/p>\n
Children and their families can enjoy fitness and art activities, healthy snacks and nutrition demonstrations, a backpack and school supply giveaway, raffles and interactive exhibits while learning about school physicals, vaccinations and other health resources. The event will also feature the Lackawanna County Public Library system and community partners, including Marywood University, Build-N-Athlete and Valley in Motion.<\/p>\n
The children\u2019s wellness fair is one of several events the Wright Center will host during National Health Center Week, Aug. 2-8, an annual celebration recognizing the essential role community health centers play in improving access to high-quality, comprehensive, whole-person primary health services. This year\u2019s National Health Center Week theme, \u201cCommunity Health Centers: Chemistry for Strong Communities,\u201d highlights the partnerships that strengthen communities and improve health outcomes.<\/p>\n

Thursday, Aug. 6: Noon-2 p.m., the Wright Center for Community Health North Pocono, 260 Daleville Highway, Suite 103, Covington Township, food giveaway.<\/p>\n
Friday, Aug. 7: 11 a.m.-1 p.m., the Wright Center for Community Health North Pocono, backpack and school supply giveaway.<\/p>\n
Saturday, Aug. 8: 9-10:30 a.m., Olive Street Trailhead entrance to the Lackawanna River Heritage Trail, Scranton, Walk with a Doc.<\/p>\n
